Capacity Building for Organizations

With support from the Corporation for National and Community Service, New Sector runs two AmeriCorps programs through which we recruit, train and support diverse, exceptionally talented emerging leaders to serve nonprofit clients. Our Program Participants provide capacity building service with our host sites, while gaining training and support for their professional skills.

  • The Residency in Social Enterprise (RISE)† program is an 11-month program operating from September – July.  Residents are young professionals with up to five years of work experience after graduating from college.  Learn more and apply as a Resident in Social Enterprise.
  • The Summer Fellowship program is an 11-week summer program operating from June – August.
    • Summer Fellows are undergraduate students, and recent college graduates. Learn more and apply as a Summer Fellow.
    • Senior Summer Fellows  are Master's program candidates who have completed a year of study and have 2+ years of work experience.  Learn more and apply as a Summer Fellow.

Capacity Building for Nonprofits:
Prior to matching a Program Participant with a host site, New Sector helps scope a strategic project that provides critical capacity-building services while building the Resident or Summer Fellow's knowledge and skills. Practice areas of Residents’ and Fellows’ service can vary, and focus on enabling greater capacity for nonprofits to deliver on their missions, with lasting impact beyond the Program Participants’ service terms. Read more about our projects that help organizations achieve their mission.

Focus Areas:
Our Residents and Fellows serve full-time with nonprofit host sites in a variety of social impact areas, including education, job skills, and health care. Read more about our focus areas.
