Host Site Project
Reading Partners is changing the education landscape. We are a leader in working to solve the literacy crisis in our country by leveraging community volunteers in under-resourced schools. Our diverse and expansive volunteer base provides one-on-one tutoring to students twice weekly, and our program is proven to help children master the reading fundamentals they need to unlock their potential as successful, happy and confident readers in school and in life. Our people are our heartbeat and our greatest resource; we are all passionately rallied around our mission to help children become lifelong learners by empowering communities to provide individualized instruction that works. Reading Partners has grown from serving 100 students in 2003 in northern California with a budget of $180,000 to serving over 12,000 students in 13 major markets across the nation with a budget of over $24 Million. Our rapid growth will continue, and we are projecting the organization is on track to serve more than 20,000 students by 2018. We have identified several critical investments that must be made in a variety of national processes and systems to enable world-class support to our org-wide operations and staff. Reading Partners’ Talent Team drives strategies that enable our people to bring their best selves to students, communities, and teammates by promoting professional growth and cultivating a strong enduring culture of lifelong learning and leadership. Reporting to the HR Director, the New Sector Fellow will support this effort by gathering and analyzing data around Reading Partners current Compensation and Total Rewards structure. This project includes the analysis of pay and total compensation data from various sources both internal and external. The fellow will work with the Finance Team and others interacting across all position levels and geographic locations to execute their project. At points during the fellowship and at project culmination, the fellow will provide written summaries and analysis of their findings to best inform the department’s compensation strategy for FY 17 and beyond. Through the information and analysis provided, the fellow’s project will increase the organization’s ability to support the growth, development, and retention of Reading Partners’ employees and members.
