If you could have dinner with 1 person who you regard as a leader, who would it be and why?
Audre Lorde because she pioneered the concept of intersectionality, utilized poetry as a practice of freedom, and devoted her life’s work to fostering connections across difference.
What motivates you to create social impact?
Queerness, the working class blood that courses through my veins, and anger with the unjust realities of society and the human condition.

We are driven by our mission that all Hiawatha Academies scholars will be empowered with the knowledge, character, and leadership skills to graduate from college and serve the common good.
Host Site Project
The New Sector Fellow will be responsible for developing and managing Hiawatha Academies’ volunteer and community partnership relationships and logistics. The Fellow will work closely with campus leaders to assess needs for each campus and building relationships with individual and group volunteers and community programs to meet campus’ and scholars’ needs. More specifically, the fellow will be responsible for cultivating volunteers, managing the logistics of volunteer engagement, and appropriately stewarding volunteer relationships. This will range from developing and implementing goals and objectives for the volunteer and community partnership program, to working with campus leaders (principals and operations directors) and teachers to determine the volunteer needs of each campus that aligns with each school’s academic goals and enrichment needs of the scholars.
