If you could have dinner with 1 person who you regard as a leader, who would it be and why?
I would have dinner with Al Gore because he has been committed to protecting the environment, an issue about which I care deeply, and has intimate knowledge of the political landscape in the United States.
What motivates you to create social impact?
It is easy to become cynical because of all the issues the human race faces, but working in the social sector serves as a constant reminder that solutions do exist; I am part of those solutions.

Host Site Project
SPUR brings people together from across the political spectrum to develop solutions to the big problems our cities face. With offices in San Francisco, San Jose and Oakland, we are recognized as a leading civic planning organization and respected for our independent and holistic approach to urban issues. SPUR is seeking a New Sector Fellow to help initiate a multi-year community engaged design process in which we will help the City of Oakland re-imagine and re-design International Boulevard, Telegraph Avenue and San Pablo Avenue so they become better places to live, work and play. Project scoping: The first job of the fellow will be to create a comprehensive picture of what existing plans and recent development on the three main streets to see what has already been done, and to create a clear picture of what next steps need to be taken to make these better main streets. Community Engagement: Help coordinate community listening sessions to hear from community members about what the main street in their neighborhood should look like. Public Education: Help run public forums at SPUR Oakland Urban Center to educate Oaklanders and other East Bay SPUR members about good urbanism, forums, events, walking tours, and other means. By supporting and expanding the management efforts, the Fellow will increase the capacity of the organization to reach new audiences, resulting in more services provided.
