If you could have dinner with 1 person who you regard as a leader, who would it be and why?

If I could have dinner with one person, it would 100% be Captain Kirk, from Star Trek because he is impulsive, acts on emotion, loves life and adventure, and most importantly no matter how impossible the problem, he never looses hope.

What motivates you to create social impact?

We have come a long way to eradicating extreme poverty. I am motivated to join the social sector because I believe that If we put our heads together, there is nothing stopping us from eradicating extreme poverty within our generation.

Host Site Project

Founded in 2010, SFMade is a groundbreaking non-profit organization focused on building San Francisco’s economic base by developing the urban manufacturing sector. The only organization of its kind, SFMade helps to retain and grow companies producing locally made products, encourages entrepreneurship and innovation and creates employment opportunities for a diverse local workforce. SFMade currently supports more than 600 San Francisco-based manufacturers employing more than 4,000 people, and is already viewed as a national model. The Hiring Made Better Program connects local job seekers to open positions at SFMade businesses, with a special focus on San Francisco’s low income, disadvantaged communities and entry level jobs. Helping local people with barriers to employment secure entry level jobs at local manufacturing businesses is mutually beneficial to job seekers and local manufacturers–job seekers are looking for higher quality jobs with the potential to advance, and business owners are looking for hard working, long term employees. The SFMade job board is an important resource to both SFMade businesses and local job seekers. The Hiring Made Better Program also supports SFMade members with HR and employment resources, educational events, connections to professional volunteer advisors, and one-on-one assistance. SFMade engages with experienced educators and youth organizations to bring career exposure, hands on workshops, and paid internships to SF youth. Inside Manufacturing is a specialized program that combines both educational and experiential elements to expose public high school students to the types of jobs that are available in the local manufacturing sector. YouthMade is a summer internships program that offers youth paid internships at SFMade businesses. The Fellow will focus on program development and delivery, including partnership and business development, communications and marketing for the program, and the creation of standard operating procedures for the program.
