RISE and Summer Fellows complete a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare them for social impact leadership. Summer Fellow curriculum is focused equally on early career readiness.

DYS Fellows follow a 12-step road-map with their own participant group, which helps the Fellows and their groups to build design-thinking habits and bolster resiliency in the age of automation.

Learning Experiences

 

Sessions are presented by a range of speakers, including New Sector staff and expert instructors who include social sector leaders, management consultants, career coaches, academic faculty, and others. Formats include lecture, case discussions, small group collaboration, individual reflection, role play, and others.

Fellows also give individual presentations to their cohort, and work in their learning teams to develop trainings. These Fellow-led sessions fill out New Sector’s training curriculum and ensure that we are best fulfilling the interests and needs of each cohort.

Impact Leadership Curriculum

New Sector’s RISE and Summer Fellowships provides early career professionals with a robust professional development experience that combines experiential learning, training, mentoring, and personalized coaching and support. Through New Sector’s program, Fellows expand their professional skill set, maximize their impact in the social impact space, and enhance their career pathways. Program components utilize a social impact professional development curriculum which develops professional literacy, skills, knowledge and goals within five dimensions for social sector leaders:

Designing Your Success Curriculum

One value-add of the DYS Fellowship is that it can be delivered concurrently with workforce development programming or as an alumni pipeline program. Each participant takes part in twelve, 2-hour modules that include an instructor-led class with individual and group activities, written homework, action homework, social homework, and online community participation.
