Since 2001, New Sector has provided capacity building and talent placement services to over 400 organizations. Our fellowship programs are designed to strengthen organizations and provide meaningful learning opportunities for Fellows. If you are interested in hosting a Fellow, please contact us and share any details of how we can help you.

Who Are Our Fellows?

  • Our competitively recruited Fellows are talented recent college graduates (RISE Fellowship) as well as current graduate and undergraduate students (Summer Fellowship) with demonstrable leadership potential.
  • They are selected based on their personal and leadership accomplishments, interpersonal skills, and commitment to making a difference in their careers.

What Do Fellows Do?

  • Fellows serve full-time with host site partner organizations.
  • They complete projects designed to create, improve, or expand your organization’s services to the communities you serve.
  • Throughout the program, Fellows are supported by New Sector training, mentorship, and coaching to give them the skills and infrastructure necessary to effectively complete impactful projects and prepare them for long-term careers that change lives, organizations, and the world.

How Do We Match Fellows With Organizations?

  • New Sector staff members work directly with your hiring manager to outline a position description, ensuring there is a role that meets New Sector’s guidelines and goals while offering a Fellow a valuable professional development experience.
  • After reviewing both candidate application materials and project information, our staff identify potential matches and share select resumes with organizations.
  • For each candidate the organization would like to interview (usually 3-5 per role), our staff sets up an interview. After the interview, both the organization and Fellow provide feedback.
  • We review the feedback, and if there is a clear match we ask the organization to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.
  • There is no obligation to take a Fellow until a match is found.
