Recently, Phillip was a non-traditional student at Tufts University in Medford, Massachusetts and Hostos Community College in the South Bronx, New York. At Tufts, Phillip was awarded the 2016 Presidential Award for Citizenship and Public Service.
Prior to Tufts, during his hiatus from college, he served as an AmeriCorps member with City Year, Team Leader with Citizen Schools, and gained extensive experience in both local and national political campaigns with Obama For America and, his last campaign, with the founder of nonprofit, Girls Who Code, Reshma Saujani for Public Advocate of NYC. After working with venture philanthropy fund New Profit Inc. in Boston, Phillip launched ULink, an early stage education tech venture leveraging technology to enhance student engagement practices to help community college students be pro-active in navigating opportunities in higher education and beyond. He is a proud alum of the Hive Global Leadership program with Hive.org and the Millennial Train Project (MTP) where was selected as the inaugural City Year-Comcast NBC Universal Fellow. During his MTP experience, he traveled 3,000 miles across the United States with social entrepreneurs, social innovators, and Fulbright researchers (aged 18-34) to six American cities to advance his start-up ULink and broaden his regional understanding of the U.S.
