In partnership with the Corporation for National and Community Service, New Sector runs two AmeriCorps programs through which we recruit, train, and support diverse, exceptionally talented emerging leaders to build the capacity of nonprofit host sites meeting pressing community needs:
New Sector's Summer Fellows Program helps organizations complete mission-critical projects in the areas of growth and scaling, operations, organizational development, performance measurement, strategy, and technology. New Sector works with host sites to identify obstacles to community impact and scope corresponding summer projects that will help to address these needs at an organizational level. We then pair diverse, competitively-selected Fellows at the undergraduate level with volunteer consultant advisors and New Sector project managers to execute on these projects and deliver measurable results. Fellows spend a minimum of 450 hours on their projects between June and August, and work closely with their host sites, consultant advisors, and New Sector project managers to ensure that their impact on the organization and community is sustainable beyond the summer.
The New Sector Residency in Social Enterprise recruits, trains, and supports diverse, competitively-selected recent college graduates and young professionals to complete mission-critical projects for nonprofit host sites over the course of a full year. Residents spend a minimum of 1700 hours in service to their host site, and are supported by volunteer consultant advisors and New Sector project managers. To help them maximize their impact during their service year and beyond, Residents go through an intensive MBA-style curriculum and civic engagement training led by volunteer faculty from top business schools, leading nonprofit practitioners, experienced consultants, and other community leaders. After their Residency year, Residents remain connected to their host site organizations and communities as they pursue careers in social impact.
To host a Resident for the 2010-2011 program year, please review our Request for Applications and complete the brief application form here. Completed applications and other inquiries should be emailed to Liz McKenna at emckenna@newsector.org.
100% of New Sector's AmeriCorps program host sites have reported that, as a direct result of their Resident's or Fellow's service, they are better able to meet the needs of the constituents and communities they serve. |
