Heidi Brooks
BOARD TREASURER & SENIOR ADVISOR
Heidi Brooks has been an active advisor to New Sector since 2003 and became New Sector’s board treasurer in 2017. Based in Boston with a national reach, Heidi has a keen understanding of nonprofit needs, challenges, and opportunities. She is known for her deep knowledge and connections across the sector and for her ability to navigate issues with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens.
Heidi is currently the chief operating officer at the National Insitute for Children’s Health Quality (NICHQ), an organization focused on public health and equity. Prior to this role, Heidi served in leadership roles at the Bridgespan Group, John Hancock, Citizens, and the Schott Foundation. Outside of work, she also serves on the boards of Crittenton Women’s Union and Associated Grantmakers.
Heidi became affiliated with New Sector in 2002 when she was a member of New Sector’s inaugural cohort of Summer Fellows as a Harvard Business School MBA student. She spent her summer serving at Year Up and working directly with founder and CEO Gerald Chertavian.
Heidi has an MBA from Harvard Business School, an MA from Johns Hopkins, and a BA from the University of South Carolina. When not working or volunteering, Heidi enjoys spending time with her husband and two daughters.
