Friends of the Children-Boston
Paula Alejandra Lozano Roa (she/ella) is a poet, nature lover, and bearded dragon owner. She is the East Boston Program Manager of Friends of the Children-Boston, a 12-year mentoring organization, where she was a professional elementary mentor for 5 years. Paula is collaborating with Eastie community leaders on the Family Support Action Team, where they bridge resources to expand community impact. She is also the board chair of The City School in Dorchester and is a supporter of grassroots organizing and youth leadership. Paula is deeply grateful for all the privileges her immigrant family from Colombia worked so hard to create for her: her bilingual abilities, her US citizenship, her bachelor's in psychology and sociology from Boston University, and her motivation and compassion. She believes in her duty to honor her family’s efforts by supporting the families she works with to better navigate institutions and to build opportunities for their growth and success; she knows liberation and well-being falls to the hands of the local community and the working people. Her favorite podcast, Inner City Left, radicalizes her more with every episode.
